A New Season Begins

The congregation of Calvary Korean United Methodist Church is pleased to announce that  Rev. Dr. Grace Pak has accepted a position as Pastor for Calvary English Ministry (CEM). She hopes to help lead, teach and grow the CEM congregation to be an agent for positive change and development in the East Brunswick community.

Rev. Pak has extensive experience in the United Methodist Church as an ordained Elder in the Greater New Jersey Annual Conference of the UMC. She served as the senior pastor at four UMC churches in the Greater New Jersey area for  22 years. She also served as the Director of Cross-Racial and Cross-Cultural Leadership at the UMC’s General Commission on Religion and Race. She is the founder of Shalom IDEA, a ministry focusing on inclusion and diversity in all levels of the church.

Rev. Pak earned a Doctor of Ministry and a Masters in Divinity, both from Drew Theological School, as well as a Bachelors in Psychology from SUNY at Stony Brook.

“It is indeed a joy and a privilege for Dan and I to be a part of CEM! As God is the one who brought us together, I trust that God will lead us in this journey so that we can live into our vision of ‘Living, Sharing, Growing in Christ Together’ and glorify God through our collective ministry.” Rev. Pak adds, “My commitment is to be faithful in my call to serve God and the Body of Christ at CEM with all that I am, so that the ministry of CEM will be a source of blessing to all of us as well as the world. Thanks be to God for His amazing grace!”

 “I also thank God for Rev. Grace Pak for her acceptance to be the pastor of EM.” says Rev. Taegun Wang, the outgoing Senior Pastor at Calvary KUMC. Rev. Wang adds,  “I would also like to express my heart-felt thanks to Pastor Grace Pak, again, for her kind and prayerful decision to serve the EM congregation.”

Rev. Pak’s new role as Pastor of CEM begins May 1, 2022 while she continues her work with Shalom IDEA and other organizations within the greater United Methodist Church.

Calvary KUMC was founded in 1975 and has served as an anchor for generations of the Korean UMC community in Central New Jersey. Rev. Jung Ung Moon will serve as Senior Pastor staring in July 2022.
